April 8, 2025
The Future of Sport in Canada Commission is pleased to announce that the National Summit on the Future of Sport will be taking place on September 8 and 9, 2025, and September 11 and 12, 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario.
The National Summit will provide an opportunity for invited participants to deliberate on the findings and recommendations regarding safe sport and the sport system in Canada outlined in the Preliminary Report, which will be published in late August 2025.
Event format
The National Summit will be divided into two sessions. The first session will be reserved for victims and survivors of maltreatment in sport. The second session will include athletes, parents, coaches, administrators, support personnel, sport organizations, government officials, academics, advocates and subject matter experts. Victims and survivors of maltreatment in sport can decide to attend either the first session or the second session.
Both sessions will consist of group meetings and roundtable discussions and will cover the same themes. These sessions are by-invitation only.
How to participate
As space will be limited, the Commission encourages members of the sport community to express their interest in attending the National Summit by completing this form as soon as possible. The deadline to fill out the form is April 29, 2025. The Commission will contact all those who filled out the form in May 2025.
Please note that completing the form does not guarantee an invitation to attend the National Summit. The Commission will carefully consider all expressions of interest to ensure diverse representation from all corners of the sport community and will extend invitations to selected individuals, groups, and organizations.
For those unable to attend the National Summit, and for those who do not want to participate in a group setting, an online portal will be made available to provide feedback on the findings and recommendations of the Commission following the publication of the Preliminary Report in August 2025.
The Commission has heard from many individuals, groups and organizations to date, and we have been pleased with the high level of interest from Canadians participating in our activities. Thank you for your continued engagement and support in this important process as the Commission enters a new phase of its mandate.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly if you have any questions.
Kind regards,
Future of Sport in Canada Commission
