Subject: A New Season of Growth: Updates from the SNC CEO
I hope this message finds you well as we are over two months into a new season. Since the launch of our new Registration and Event Management System (REMS) on September 3, we have been on a journey of learning. This change has been hard. I have heard from many that they have struggled with the change, and it has not been easy. I want to take a moment to thank all the administrators at the provincial and club level for all the work that has been put in over the last seven weeks, during this transition, and all the work yet to come. The registration period is challenging in the best of times but doing so while familiarizing yourselves with a new system has required an extra level of patience and dedication. We recognize this effort and are deeply grateful.
Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to Support
The transition to a new system comes with a learning curve for both the users as well as the project team, and we are committed to turning this experience into an opportunity for growth. As we continue through this season, our goal is to apply what we have learned to improve the registration process, making the experience as seamless as possible for 2025.
To support this, we have a few initiatives planned:
- Refreshed Live Training Sessions: Starting in January, we will be offering new training sessions for club administrators to enhance familiarity with REMS.
- Opportunities for Feedback: Your feedback has been and will continue to be invaluable to us. We will continue to use surveys and focus group sessions to better understand where improvements can be made.
- Ongoing Communication: I will continue to keep you updated with regular messages, ensuring transparency and clarity as we navigate this process together.
Your Go-To Resource: The REMS Knowledge Base
For those looking to stay up to date or find answers to common questions, the REMS Knowledge Base remains your best resource. We’ve received a lot of feedback on its design, and as a result, a redesigned version will be available by November 27. This new version will include an issue log, where you can track current challenges and any available workarounds. We hope this update will make it even easier for you to find the support you need.
Note that the Registration Information Portal that we made available ahead of launching the REMS system will be decommissioned on November 27. The REMS Knowledge Base replaces the Information Portal as your go-to resource for all REMS related news and support material.
Adapting Together
I also want to acknowledge the exceptional efforts of the teams at Swimming Canada, and each of the Provincial sections. Staff at all levels have been working incredibly hard, and through our work with the SportLoMo team, I know we will get to a place that allows us all to move forward together, with a system that supports all our needs.
Technology transitions are inherently complex, no matter how much planning takes place. Unexpected issues are a part of the journey, and we’ve been adapting each day to ensure REMS can meet the needs of our community.
Your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this complex change is appreciated as always.
Warmest regards,
Suzanne Paulins
